The 20 keywords behind every test on this site
We run every tool here on the same twenty keywords, frozen before the first test so no tool gets an easier set than another. Buying their real Google results as an answer key also bought a picture of the keywords themselves. It is not a picture of ten open places.
Across 20 keywords and 200 top-ten slots, 146 held an organic text result. The other 27% went to something a written page cannot win. On 14 of 20 keywords, that something held position one. Read the finding.

Organic counts the top-ten results that were ordinary text pages. The snapshot drops AI Overview citations, People Also Ask and duplicate sitelinks, so a missing slot is one no text page held. The snapshot does not record which of them took it, and we do not guess.
DR range is the weakest and strongest domain rating among those results. Domain rating is Ahrefs’ own 0–100 estimate of link strength, not a Google number.
Tested by lists the tools measured on that keyword. It is coverage, not a comparison: the runs used different subsets and different sample sizes, and the finding page carries the caveats that make the correlations readable.
Terms links to the term list for keywords someone has already looked up. We only build pages for keywords people actually search here, so the rest open the tool instead. The method explains how we chose the fixture and why we froze it.
